RPL win £4.4 million refurbishment contract

Railway Projects Ltd are pleased to announce we have won a 2 year refurbishment contract for First ScotRail. The work will commence in November 2011 in Kilmarnock and will involve 40 three-carriage trains from the Class 334 fleet being overhauled. Railway Projects in partnership with Northern Rail and Eureka! The national children’s museum, have restored an old MarkII coach that would have been built circa 1969 by British Rail at Derby Carriage works. Two teams headed up by RPL’s Operations Manager Simon Chorley undertook the Refurbishment work over a four week period. Prior to Christmas the carriage was stripped and corrosion repairs made with the proceeding two weeks of refit and refurbishment. The scope of this project involved corrosion repairs, weather proofing and re paint of the outside of the vehicle, with the refresh and refurbishment of the interior including but not limited to replacement windows, re paint, new dado panels, seat covers, carpet, tables and refreshed panelling. RPL were presented with a framed photograph of the finished vehicle by Northern Rails Managing Director Heidi Mottram and Eureka’s Chief Executive Leigh-Anne Stradeski with the words “Thank you for your fantastic support in refurbishing the Northern Rail at Eureka! Children’s train carriage” RPL would like to offer their extended thanks to Northern Rail, Eureka! and project partners.
